2017 Reflections and 2018 Preparations

2017 reflections. Looking back on a year of growth.

In early January of 2017, I proudly shared with my readers that my New Year’s resolution and word of the year would be Grow. It was simple, yet its meaning was complex. I wanted to grow closer to God, grow my knowledge and learn new things, and of course I wanted to grow this blog. Today, as I look back over the past 11 months; I actually feel like I have grown. My blog posts tell the story better, so just scroll down and you can learn about my growth.

Teaching my boys about the importance of living a faith-based life Grew me closer to God.

My desire to learn new things and grow my knowledge was twofold. First, I wanted to learn more about amazing small businesses owners in North Carolina, and share their story with my readers. Owning your own business takes hard work, sweat and tears. Lots of learning lessons involved in the process, and a tremendous encouragement to myself and my readers.

Gregory Vineyards is like coming home with its wide plank front porch with rocking chairs, Calabash style seafood restaurant and wine made from muscadine grapes. Got To Be NC Festival. Homegrown Fare.

Secondly, I wanted to grow my career beyond my blog. I picked Real Estate because I could use my sales and marketing background. Little did I know that Real Estate school would be a very demanding and difficult class. Needless to say, I learned a lot, passed the class, and received my NC Real Estate License in August.

In the midst of all this growing, I still found time to Grow my blog by focusing on my favorite thing- Fitness! Here are two of my favorite fitness posts.

And of course, my debut post about being a Fitness Ambassador at O2 Fitness.

My secret stress reliever is O2 Fitness gym. They have childcare, weights, pool, sauna and fitness classes.

I did a lot of growing this year which makes me wonder what 2018 will bring. How will I utilize my growth in the coming year. I have some ideas and possibly my new word for next year, but I’m going to ponder it a bit more before sharing it.

How was your year?

  1. My year was great as well. I usually choose 3 words and this past year I chose vigilant, surpass and thrive. I am reassessing how I did with these words —still thinking if I really embraced them this year and I think I may have to work harder next year! Love your word GROW and think it might be part of my new words for 2018. Thanks for sharing.

3 words are a great idea. I’m still considering my word or perhaps a letter that represents the year. Thanks for sharing about your year. Happy New Year!
