A Pitch Perfect Experience
I received complimentary tickets, food and merchandise from Coastal Credit Union in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own. See my disclosure/disclaimer for details.
My love for the game of soccer started at a young age. I enjoyed the rush of running down the field and taking the ball away from my opponents. It meant being tough and somewhat fearless, but it also meant working together as a team. Many life lessons are learned on the pitch–winning, losing and everything in between. So when my boys were 3, I started them in toddler soccer programs. They shared my love for the game, and have continually grown with the game through various levels and leagues.
So when Coastal Credit Union reached out to me about attending a North Carolina Football Club (NCFC) VIP experience, my boys and I were thrilled. The NCFC men’s soccer team is like the minor league version of the MLS (major league soccer). However, there is nothing minor about their game day experience. There’s tailgating in the parking lot, the stadium seats 10,000 people, and hosts several ACC, NCAA, and Team USA tournaments. The Wake Med soccer park is situated on 150-acres owned by the Town of Cary and within close proximity to downtown Cary.
We’ve been to several NCFC games, but this was the first time we had the opportunity to sit on the pitch. For about $51 each, you can reserve folding chairs on the sidelines. There’s just a small petition between you and the foot action. I made the boys sit in their seats because we were that close. It was impressive watching the players manipulate the ball with their feet as well as their passing strategies.
Of course, the boys were hungry as soon as we sat down, but we didn’t need to get back up because we had wait staff ready to take our order– again and again. The concessions are fabulous at the game. Backyard Bistro served our section, and we dined on barbecue sandwiches, nachos, and cheeseburgers plus my favorite– local craft beer. The boys also enjoyed the kid’s zone with the soccer ball shoot-out and design your own signs.
Coastal Credit Union was a phenomenal host. They are apart of the NCFC community sponsorship program that allows organizations to put their money and name behind a growing fan base. The boys and I were gifted with hats which were perfect as the sun was setting overhead. After the game, the players came to the sidelines and signed our hats. It was a pitch perfect experience that I will always remember with my boys.
