All Things New…The Word of the Year
Happy New Year! It’s 2017, and it feels like the doom and gloom of 2016 has been washed away. It’s time to focus on All Things New. Many of us write resolutions or pledge to do things differently, but for the past couple of years I have chosen a word that motivates me to better myself each year. Usually, I have one word that represents me personally and another word for my blog, but this year my word is the same for both aspects of my life. My word this year is Grow. It might seem odd that adult would want to grow, but for every year I grow older, I still have so much to learn.
I make good lists, so I came up with this one to help me focus on my goals. You can try this too, pick a word and jot down some goals that match your word.
- Closer to God- attend church on a regular basis
- Smarter- read more books and continue education
- Relationships- take the time to “water” and nurish friendships.
- More readers
- Become more than a blog
My personal goals are easier to understand, but my blog goals are still in the thought process. I guess becoming more than a blog refers to me diversifying my services–by offering social media services, content writing and helping others blog. It seems like a lot, but I plan to simplify my growth each month. My first step has been purchasing a planner this year. I need to be intentional in my growth by setting weekly and monthly goals.
This Dayspring 12-month/weekly planner is built with my goals in mind. It has a section for prayer requests, Bible verses, and a schedule to read through the Bible in a year plus monthly calendars and weekly reminders. Did I mention it’s only $6.50!!
As you can see, I am getting organized! You will also see more organization on my blog too with monthly themes. January’s theme is All Things New which will explore trying new recipes, visiting a new restaurant, how I’m growing my blog and finding a new way to exercise. I’m excited to watch the growing unfold and my plans become reality.
What about you? I want this space to be relevant to my readers. Do you have a word or goals for this new year? Share them in the comments below and let’s grow together!
