Bedtime & Devotions
Bedtime routines can be stressful with baths, putting on pj’s, reading books and calming down. My boys seem to run till they literally drop, so establishing a bed time routine is an important task. One of the things that I have discovered and now cherish, is our devotion time. Each night, I read the boys (ages 3 & 6) a devotion from one of their kid devotional books. Each story is paired with a Bible verse and a relates to issues like lying, helping others or being a friend. Sometimes my boys don’t get the moral of the story, so I always ask if they understand. If they don’t, it opens up a wonderful teaching opportunity. I love hearing their perspective on the devotions as we talk about how to apply it to our lives.
Since my family enjoys our bedtime devotion time so much, I was happy to learn that Family Christian is offering a sale (up to 50% off ) on select kid devotionals. I’ll share a few of our favorites below. Kid Devotionals are great Christmas gifts too. The following information contains affiliate links. Jesus Calling is a unique daily devotional that reads as if Jesus is talking to you. It’s a great way to teach children about having a personal relationship with Jesus. This book is on sale for $7.49.
God and Me is a wonderful devotional for younger children. It has colorful pictures and daily devotions that teach about the characteristics of God. This book is on sale for $9.99.
Devotion time is not complete without a Bible, and two of our favorite Bibles are on sale. I love The Beginner’s Bible with it’s colorful pictures and a shortened version of the story and The Jesus Story Book Bible adds more details to the story along with beautiful illustrations.
