It’s been nearly two weeks into 2015, and I already feel a little sluggish. The first week back to school was tough. Waking up early, chugging coffee, packing lunches and rushing to get the kids to school on time was something I did not miss over the break. I made it to the gym three days this week, cut out unhealthy sweets and snacks, and even had some friends over for muffins. It was a banner week for sure, but how to I keep it up all year-round?
- Fitness- Staying physically and spiritually fit increases my energy and lifts my mood. I have more energy to accomplish chores around the house, play with the kids and spend time with my husband. The spiritual side gives me perspective on the world around me and determines my attitude on how I will face the day.
- Accountability- This is the key. Remember you can’t do it All By Yourself, it’s o.k. to ask for help, and surround yourself with positive, like-minded people. I have found that when I partner with a group of friends that are striving to eat healthy or exercise regularly then I stick to my goals ( a little competition doesn’t hurt either).
- Rest – Be sure to give yourself a break. Set some time aside to read a book or devotional. Meet with a friend for coffee, or just take a nap. Resting is not being lazy; it’s about knowing when you need to recharge, so you can be at your best.
I created a Facebook group called the Encouragers. My word of the year is Encourage, and I want to build an encouraging accountability community that will strengthen you daily in your fitness, health, parenting, spiritual, and relationship journey. It will be a closed group, so I can keep out spammers and negativity. I hope you will join the Encouragers, and be continually encouraged in 2015.
