10K Run Ready or Not?

New Years Resolutions and fitness goals

Happy New Year! I feel like I am late to the party of resolutions and goals for 2016. The holidays nearly wiped me out with the kids out of school, Christmas festivities and traveling. Then this morning I was reminded by my Kiqplan app  that it is day 78 in my 12-week journey to run a 10k. I haven’t logged in this week, and the app reminded me of that too. I was literally running strong until the second week of December until all the craziness began. It was no fault of the Kiqplan 10k Run Ready app with it’s detailed reminders to enter my nutrition, workouts and runs; it’s just the reality of a busy mom.

The Kiqplan app helped pull me out of my holiday hangover and remind me that I have a race to run and a goal to accomplish. While I’m currently overwhelmed with the clean-up of Christmas decorations and getting my household back into a regular routine, I’m excited just thinking of the kid’s heading back to school and me hitting the trail for a long run. Visions of sugar plums are yesterday’s news; today I’m dreaming of making nutritious recipes and snacks to help me refuel and shed some weight.

I’ve gotten a little bit behind on my 10k Run Ready journey, but I’m not going to let that stop me from achieving my goal. I’m going to pick up where I left off and continue to log my meals and complete the scheduled strength workouts and runs.

Are you contemplating a new exercise goal for 2016, but unsure as to where to start? I encourage you to check out the many different exercise apps that Kiqplan offers. They offer a 5k app that’s perfect for new runners or one that helps you rid yourself of the baby weight.

What are your resolutions or goals for 2016?

Hey Rachel! Which 10k are you running? I’m looking for one to train for.

I haven’t picked a 10k yet. I was thinking about the Krispy Kreme challenge in February. It’s a 5 mile though, but for a great cause.

I need to start at least light workouts, along with continuing to improve my diet, in order to keep my blood pressure under control. I guess I’ll get back on that, now that the holidays have ended. Haha. Wishing you well in your races.

Diet is key. I always seem to eat healthier when I keep up with my workout schedule. ?

  3. Kudos on the 10k training! My knees are well beyond any running these days. I’ve fallen behind in workouts the last couple of months too between the crazy track out/holiday schedules with my son’s school, cold/sinus mess for the baby & myself (finally over!), plus the Christmas to New Years adventures. And, of course, all the rain around here. I’m ready for drier days and to get back to long walks outdoors.

Thanks. If you’re looking for a diligent fitness app, Kiqplan offers more than running programs. My son is track 1, so we had an extra long break. It’s nice getting back into the routine.
