Bedtime & Devotions

bedtime and devtions

Bedtime routines can be stressful with baths, putting on pj’s, reading books and calming down. My boys seem to run till they literally drop, so establishing a bed time routine is an important task. One of the things that I have discovered and now cherish, is our devotion time. Each night, I read the boys (ages 3 & 6) a devotion from one of their kid devotional books. Each story is paired with a Bible verse and a relates to issues like lying, helping others or being a friend. Sometimes my boys don’t get the moral of the story, so I always ask if they understand. If they don’t, it opens up a wonderful teaching opportunity. I love hearing their perspective on the devotions as we talk about how to apply it to our lives.

Since my family enjoys our bedtime devotion time so much, I was happy to learn that Family Christian is offering a sale (up to 50% off ) on select kid devotionals. I’ll share a few of our favorites below. Kid Devotionals are great Christmas gifts too. The following information contains affiliate links. God and Me is a wonderful devotional for younger children. It has colorful pictures and daily devotions that teach about the characteristics of God. This book is on sale for $9.99.

  1. Wonderful suggestions! We typically read whatever book my son picks out, but your post just reminded me of a children’s Bible we haven’t read from in a while. I think I’ll pull it out and try to get us into the habit of reading it regularly again.

I’ve been trying to read the Christmas story from the different children’s Bibles we have. It’s a good routine to get into. Thanks for commenting.
