I am excited to introduce a new monthly series called Featuring. Each month I’ll feature a Triangle area mom with a passion for fitness, a business, a cause or simply a story to share. Interested in being featured? Leave me a comment.
Featuring: Allison Wasko
I first met Allison at my friend’s house when the kids were tracked out of school. The weather was nice and the kids were playing in the yard. We started talking about our kids and then the conversation turned to our home based businesses. Allison told me she ran a website called KidDilly Cary. As a blogger, I’m quite interested websites, so I started asking her more questions about her site, KidDilly. Sounded neat, but the more Allison explained KidDilly I realized it was more than a website about local kid activities. KidDilly is a local based social media site about all things for kids and families. You can create a profile page, connect with other members and post kid and family activities and events. In addition to the social media aspect of KidDilly, Allison complies a monthly events list and calendar. You can also find a detailed list of birthday party venues, camps, sports, museums, education and childcare.
KidDilly Cary is the second location in the KidDilly family. The first KidDilly was launched in 2009 in Scranton, PA, where Allison and her family were living at the time. When the Wasko family relocated to Cary, it only seemed right to bring KidDilly with them. Allison purchased a similar website called Triangle Tracks and narrowed it’s reach to Cary, Apex and Morrisville. Allison hopes to expand KidDilly into other towns and share her business model with others. It’s a profitable work-at-home business endeavor that enables parents to have a balanced family/work life, a must-have for Allison.
Allison is intentional about the flexibility that KidDilly gives her. She is not overwhelmed with work and has the time for “relationships, reflection, creativity, activity and spontaneity.” Allison enjoys the many activities and local parks within the Triangle with her husband of 13 years, daughter, 11 and son 9. Additionally, Allison appreciates a good workout and her favorite exercises include: jogging, yoga and kettle ball training.
I’m glad I got to meet Allison and learn about her business. Please visit Allison’s site, KidDilly and start connecting with other parents and activities in Cary and beyond.
